IST Summer Internship 2025( Fully Funded Research in Austria)

The Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) is pleased to announce the ISTernship Summer Program 2025, a fully funded opportunity designed for international students pursuing bachelor's or master's degrees in science-related fields. This program offers a unique platform for aspiring researchers to engage in cutting-edge scientific projects under the mentorship of ISTA's distinguished faculty.

Program Overview

The ISTernship Summer Program is scheduled to take place between May 15 and September 15, 2025, with a flexible duration ranging from two to three months, as agreed upon between the intern and the host professor. 

Located in Klosterneuburg, Austria, ISTA provides a stimulating research environment, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across various scientific domains.

Financial Support

The ISTernship is a fully funded program, offering the following benefits:

• Monthly Stipend: Interns will receive a monthly allowance to cover living expenses.
• Travel Allowance: Financial support for round-trip airfare to and from Austria.
• Visa Assistance: Guidance and support in obtaining the necessary visa for the duration of the internship.
• Accommodation: Options for on-campus or off-campus housing are available, with subsidized rates to ensure affordability.
• Health Insurance: Access to affordable health insurance coverage throughout the internship period.
• Transportation: Free ISTA shuttle bus service to Vienna, facilitating easy commute.
• Professional Development: Opportunities to attend scientific seminars, workshops, and networking events, including the annual ISTA barbecue in June.

These provisions are designed to ensure that interns can fully immerse themselves in their research projects without financial concerns. 

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the ISTernship Summer Program 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Academic Background: Enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in natural sciences, mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, or related interdisciplinary fields.
• Academic Standing: Completion of at least four semesters of undergraduate coursework by the start of the internship.
• Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required; however, standardized test scores such as IELTS or TOEFL are not mandatory.
• Nationality: Open to students of all nationalities.
• Availability: Commitment to the full duration of the internship, with specific dates to be determined in consultation with the host professor.

While prior research experience is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite for application.

• Curriculum Vitae (CV): A comprehensive overview of academic background, research experience, and relevant skills.
• Statement of Purpose: A concise essay outlining the applicant's research interests, motivation for applying to the ISTernship program, and alignment with potential host professors.
• Academic Transcripts: Official records of academic performance, including courses taken and grades achieved.
• Reference Letters: Contact information for one or two referees who can provide insight into the applicant's qualifications and potential for success in a research environment.

Applicants should indicate up to three preferred professors with whom they wish to work; however, direct contact with professors prior to application is not necessary.

Selection Process

The selection process is highly competitive, with applications evaluated based on academic excellence, research potential, and alignment of interests with available research projects. Successful applicants will be notified by March 31, 2025, and will collaborate with their host professors to finalize the specifics of their research projects and internship duration.
